El festival de Cannes se vio envuelto en una polémica tras las acusaciones de racismo dirigidas a una guardia de seguridad. Según varios medios, la guardia habría cometido actos discriminatorios contra las actrices Massiel Taveras y Kelly Rowland, así como contra la cantante YoonA.
En los videos difundidos, se puede ver a Kelly Rowland gritándole a una guardia de seguridad después de que esta intentara repetidamente impedir que la actriz siguiera posando para las cámaras.
